Smell Those Green Coffee Beans

It's time to wake up, so grab those green coffee beans and let's get started! I know you have probably become very comfortable grabbing hot roasted coffee from the vending machine at work or trying out new coffees at the local coffee shop but there's a better way. Wouldn't it be wonderful to sip your coffee while in your pajamas? Well there is no better day than today to start.
Home roasting has generally become a thing of the past due to big business taking over. However, after you understand the basics of roasting green coffee beans it is rather simple. There are a few ways to achieve great coffee roasting. The first is by using a stove top roaster. Using this type of home roasting technique may take longer than other methods but it will give deeper notes to the flavor. The negative about using a stove top roaster is that you will lose some of the bright notes and aroma.
Using a fluid-air bed roaster is a better alternative if a stove top roaster doesn't sound like the right fit for you. Purchasing a home coffee roasting machine may be the most expensive option available but for a coffee lover it might be the best option. The fluid-air bed roaster works by blowing hot air over the beans. The process is completely automated and requires little action from you. Because the green coffee beans are constantly moving they will be evenly roasted. This way you will also get stronger bright notes and aroma but lose deeper notes.
If the above two methods are not options for you then a final way for home coffee roasting is to simply use a gas or convection oven. All you need is a flat baking pan with many holes and fill it with a layer of green coffee beans. Bake it on high heat and voila! Now the negative thing about using this method is that you will end up with a rather uneven roast. However, the taste will be rich because of the lack of air flow. Plus, this is a really simple way to get your own home coffee by using green coffee beans.
So now that you have a few options for home roasting green coffee beans, the next step is to get started. First, buy yourself either a stove-top roaster, fluid-air bed roaster or simply use your own oven. Then pick out your desired coffee beans and that's it. No waiting in line at the coffee shop, running late for work or buying bland coffee from the vending machine. With home roasting you get to enjoy coffee in the comfort of your own home and what could be better than that?
